Compagnes et Compagnons en Mission — Europe

As a result of reflection and prayer by the Sisters of the Society, the 1998 General Chapter decreed the establishment of the Companions in Mission, as “a public expression of relationship with the Society of the Sisters, Faithful Companions of Jesus, and a form of commitment for those who wish to be more closely associated with us in our mission."  Emphasis on the charism of companionship with Jesus and with his people is at the heart of their commitment.

After planning and preparation, the FCJ Companions in Mission was officially launched on January 2, 2001 (Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus).

First Companions in Mission Group in the Society.A group of eight companions in Broadstairs, England were the first to complete the 18 month programme of formation in the spirituality of the charism.

During these months of preparation, Companions in Mission in formation familiarize themselves with the Gospel, with Church teachings, with the FCJ Society and its works, and, in turn the FCJ Sisters come to know them and value them as part of their extended ‘family’.  The group in Broadstairs made their first commitment at Stella Maris on 24 November, 2002.

Since then, in Europe, groups of FCJ Companions in Mission have made commitment in Hartlepool and London   (England), Dublin and Bruff (Ireland), San Mauro and Turn (Italy), and Galaţi (Romania).
