Eldoret, Kenya - 2007

My memory of Eldoret 2007 will be of the blessing of the rain which arrived just about the same time as we did, and in time for the planting of the maize – so there was great rejoicing all round – and sounds of labour as tractors worked into the night preparing the ground.

View of the gardens.   Another view of the gardens.

The experience was very blessed and was a great privilege for us as well as being useful to the sisters who expressed their appreciation by the way they entered into the process and let themselves be nourished by the different ‘spiritual exercises’ we had prepared.

In fact, it often felt like a retreat as we explored different kinds of praying by experiencing them, and as we looked very practically at ignatian discernment.  The pictures give a flavour of the mother-house garden after the rain, the sacred space in our conference room, and the sisters enjoying their garden and each other’s company.

Prayer space.   Meeting area.

Some of the Assumption Sisters.   The Assumption Sisters of Eldoret ask to be remembered to all 'their' FCJ Sisters all over the world.
