Acceptance Ceremony of Elvisa, Ciony and Dewi
into the Novitiate of the FCJ Asia-Australia Province

Yogyakarta, Indonesia, September 14, 2005

We chose “Come and Journey with Jesus” as our theme for the Acceptance into Novitiate Ceremony.

We made the decision, not just to come but also to journey with Jesus more closely. Each of us walks with Jesus on our journey, as you too walk with Him.

Because we are an International Congregation, we chose different languages for our prayers and songs. We used Bahasa Indonesia, English and Cebuano for the ceremony of acceptance and the songs were in English and Tagalog.

Sisca fcJ, one of our professed sisters, was the MC for our ceremony. She said in her introduction that climbing mountains needs a professional guide. Entering the Novitiate is like climbing the mountain of God and needs a professional guide, Jesus.

Our provincial Barbara fcJ, was here in Yogyakarta to receive us as novices. We gave her candles which symbolized our self-giving and she handed them over to Clare fcJ, our novice director.

After the prayer, we had a lovely meal which was prepared by our companions in the Soropadan Community.

We received letters, cards and gifts from our sisters from many different communities and provinces.  We are glad and grateful for the support, love and prayer we have received from our sisters here and abroad.

Ciony:
One thing that touched me during the reception was the union of all the FCJ sisters praying and giving thanks for the gift of this vocation that I have received. I was moved by the loving acceptance and trust of the Society which allows me to move on to the next stage of my formation. I am so grateful for the support of all my companions in Yogyakarta who gave us their blessings, as well as the blessings, prayers and love of our sisters who sent me cards and greetings from abroad.

Dewi:
The most moving point during the ceremony was when I spoke my wish to be accepted as an FCJ novice. I said this in the Indonesian language, so that I knew well what I was asking for. It is a difficult thing that I asked.

But at the same time I realized that many sisters would journey with me and support me with much love and prayer. With Jesus as my guide and with so much love, support and prayer as my resources, I know I can go on with courage and confidence.  I am grateful for the support of my sisters and companions.

Elvisa:
I was really moved and challenged as I said what I wanted from the Society of Sisters Faithful Companions of Jesus.  I said I wanted to be helped to grow as an FCJ.  I was afraid that I wouldn’t be strong enough to continue my formation but one thing that gave me courage and confidence was the love, prayer and support of our sisters and the promise of God, “Don’t be afraid, I will be with you till the end of the earth.”  I am very grateful to God for the grace that he has given to me. I am truly blessed.
