Profession of First Vows in Indonesia, November 28, 1999
Laurentia Yunitri Moelyowardani

FCJs gathered for Yuni's vows.During the latter part of November, the Faithful Companions of Jesus who live in Indonesia were very happy to welcome several other FCJ visitors for Yuni's vows - Teresa from the Philippines, Margaret and Aileen from Australia and Margarita from Stella Maris. Altogether there were 15 FCJs present. A new record for Indonesia!

Yuni's dance. The evening before the vows there was a ceremony of 'welcome' for Yuni into the FCJ community. This is always a very touching moment and it was so again, as Yuni put into dance her own spiritual path, and her journey of response to her vocation. From time to time, in expressing the more difficult moments, Yuni was joined by Irene, who, dancing the part of God or of a human companion, encouraged her, supported her, and called her forward.

Yuni gives each one rice. Finally, Wina also joined the dance and, united with Yuni and Irene they all danced the joy of FCJ companions rejoicing together in the call they have received.

Yuni gives each one rice. After the dance, Yuni gave each one present a handful of rice mixed with small Indonesian coins. In doing so, she said, symbolically, that she gave herself (the rice) to our Society, together with all her labour (the coins) so as to join with us in living the mission of Jesus in our world today. As the FCJs returned the rice and money to the pot Yuni was carrying, they made a gesture of uniting their journey and hers.

At the meal after her welcome into the Society,Yuni took the top of the traditional rice dish (tumpeng nasi kuning) and offered it to a chosen guest.

On the following day, in a lovely Eucharistic Liturgy in their community home, Yuni made her vows: 'Allah yang Mahakasih dan kekal, di hadapan Maria, Perawan dan Bunda, para malaikat, orang-orang kudus dan semua yang bersatu dengan saya di sini, saya, Laurentia Yunitri Moelyowardani mengikrarkan kepada-Mu, kaul-kaul hidup membiara kemurnian, kemiskinan dan ketaatan di dalam Serikat Suster Sahabat Setia Yesus, untuk waktu tiga tahun sesuai dengan Konstitusi Serikat ini, dan saya bersungguh-sungguh untuk terus-menerus selama hidup di dalam Serikat ini.'

Yuni makes her vows.'Loving and eternal God, in presence of Mary, Virgin and Mother, of the angels and the saints and all here united with me, I Laurentia Yunitri Moelyowardani make for three years to you, the vows of religious chastity, poverty and obedience in the Society of the Sisters Faithful Companions of Jesus, according to the Constitutions of this Society, and I intend to persevere all my life in this same Society.'

Her family are present with her.Members of Yuni's family were present to join her in the gift of herself to God's service in the FCJ Society and to rejoice with her. Several of her friends and previous work colleagues were also able to come. Members of the local parish Yuni is welcomed by Margaret Clavery Hayes fcJ.formed the excellent choir and Father Bernard Keradec OMI, a great friend of the community presided at the Eucharist.

Later in the day, all were able to enjoy some refreshments and, when all the visitors had left to make their journeys home, the sisters sat together and remembered the day. Moments of grace, moments of working together, moments of humour, moments of gratitude, moments of the almost tangible presence of a loving God. In all things and in all moments, to God and to each other,

Terimakasih banyak - thank you, thank you so much!
