Ireland — Provincial Assembly, November 2009
The 2009 Irish Provincial Assembly took place on November 21 in St. Anne’s, Portarlington. The assembly started with Sr. Maria Dunne, our provincial leader, giving an update on happenings in the Province, especially the new departure of putting our schools under a new trust ‘Le Cheíle’. We were then joined by two Companions in Mission.

Sr. Mary Mangan OLC, (pictured left) gave us a harrowing account of the trafficking of women from developing countries to Ireland and other countries. Sr. Mary is working with Ruhama – an association working to rescue and rehabilitate trafficked women in Ireland. In the afternoon we watched the power point prepared by Claire Sykes fcJ and Margarita Byron fcJ on the life of Marie Madeleine d’Houët, the foundress of our congregation. To read more about Marie Madeleine click here. The thematic approach of the presentation was unusual but interesting, the slides and illustrations were wonderful. The Assembly finished with a prayer service acknowledging and celebrating the work done in the houses which have recently been closed: Westbourne Close, Cherrywood and Gouldavoher. |

We pray God’s blessing on all who supported our work in these Dublin communities. May the good live on!
