Sr. Katherine Mary's Visit to the Assumption Sisters of Eldoret — March -April 2009
Katherine Mary O’Flynn fcJ, General Superior of the FCJ Sisters and Gloria Calabrese fcJ from the British Province of the European Network , received a wonderfully warm welcome from the Assumption Sisters of Eldoret when they visited them recently. Sr Katherine and Sr Gloria spent a week with Sr. Paschalia and the General Council in Eldoret.
The ASE sisters expressed great gratitude for the help and support which they received from FCJs in the European Network over the past six years and remembered with gratitude the FCJs who had accompanied them in retreats, offered input on Ignatian Spirituality and provided facilitation and secretarial help during their General Chapter. Some suggestions for the future relationship between the two congregations were discussed and these will now be looked at by the Provincials and their Councils in the European Network.
During the week in Eldoret, Katherine gave some input on Leadership and both Gloria and Katherine did some sessions on aspects of formation for religious life with ASE formators and the general council. The ASE sisters have a strong apostolic trust as seen in their ministry with street children, young girls who have dropped out of school, running clinics and pharmacies as well as working with young people in education.
