Captivated by Jesus and His Mission Conference
During August 2005, about forty FCJ Sisters from across the Society met in Stella Maris for a reflective exchange on the theology of mission and the vows in our life.
Deepening our understanding of being sent, as companions with Jesus in His work of announcing the Good News and establishing the Reign of God in our world, we grew closer to the words which our last General Chapter presented to us: ‘to be captivated by Jesus and His mission…’ How the vows support this vocation was explored, leading us to greater desires and enthusiasm as we treasured not only the insights but also the questions that will lead us forward in the future.

Much of the work that was done at the Conference took place in our own reflection and sharing groups but we did also have input and support from a few speakers – Sr. Una O’Neill RSC, Sr. Clare Hand FCJ, Sr. Veronika Schreiner FCJ, Sr. Mary Pat Garvin RSM and Fr. Brian O’Leary SJ.

The members of this Conference were also indebted to a group of FCJ sisters who came together as a ‘Think Tank’ last November to break open the topic and devise stages for its exploration.

This enlivening event will now be continued by all FCJ sisters across the Provinces during the months ahead as they follow processes devised for them by the members of this Conference.
