For most of her long life she had served God faithfully and lovingly as a Faithful Companion of Jesus. Both as a teacher, which was her profession, and through her service of the FCJ Society in leadership roles, she always manifested her great love of people.

Her years of ministry began in Laurel Hill, Limerick, Ireland as a teacher of maths and hockey.

Her long years of leadership began when she was appointed headmistress in Laurel Hill and culminated in the years from 1966 to 1975 when she was General Superior of the FCJ sisters.

In 1976 she went to Hartlepool in the North East of England and then spent several years in Western Canada before returning to England.

Sister Raphael has two sisters who are also FCJs – Sister Nora who lives in Ireland and Sister Una Mary who lives in London, England. She is much missed by them, by all her FCJ sisters worldwide and by her family and friends.

May she rest in peace.
