Celebrating MARIE MADELEINE in MUSCAT, OMAN, April 2008

FCJ Sisters, Christine and Veronika, in front of their 'souq'.Christine Anderson FCJ from Rome and Veronika Schreiner FCJ  from Munich attended the Third Global Forum of the Society for Organisational Learning in Oman from 13th – 17th April 2008 on behalf of the European network.

They joined four hundred participants from 47 nations who represented business, manufacturing, the oil industry, education—schools and universities, health, and  NGOs.

The contact with people from these different nations and religions was a learning in itself and opened up the awareness that we are one common humanity with the same aims and desires for the planet and the people.
The theme of the conference was Bridging the Gulf – Learning across Organizations, Sectors and Cultures. Veronika and Christine hosted a learning souq (marketplace) and wrote a paper about our Society entitled Building Community and Organisational Learning across Cultures. Click here to read the paper they presented. The purpose of the Learning souq was to introduce people to the life and work of Marie Madeleine and the FCJ Society, while at the same time making connections and learning from other organizations working for the good of humanity.

New friends and sharing refreshments.

Display in the Conference area. For most people it was the first time they had met religious sisters and the openness and deep level of dialogue engaged in led to many transformative conversations.

Speakers at the Conference included

Srs. Christine and Veronika in Oman.

One of our own learning objectives was to examine our own prejudices and explore differences especially in relation to sectors, religions and cultures.

This conference in the Middle East certainly offered us this opportunity.

Unsere kleine Gemeinschaft hat das Ziel,
      mit allen Mitteln ihrer Macht
das Herz Jesus zu ehren ...     (Marie Madeleine)
