Come, Marie Madeleine
original guardian of our charism
come with the heart you wore
as you responded to the ‘I thirst’ of Jesus.
Come, all you Faithful Companions of Jesus
come, tell us the ancient truths
you knew so well,
breathe whispers of wisdom.
Come, dream dreams of hope in us
stir in us songs of the seas and rivers,
dance stories of reverence in our blood.
Raise up profound companionship in our souls
guide us into strong circles of respect
for everything inhabiting our world.
Come, guardians of our FCJ tradition
breathe fire into our bones
until we, too, stand strong in our commitment
to carry forward our timeless story.

We gather the fruitfulness of the past and
we take the symbol of abundant

Here we call to mind each member of our Society throughout the world
her joys, her hopes, her fears, her pain.
We remember, too, all the people of diverse cultures,
to whom we minister.
We ask God’s blessing upon them.
We ask that we be faithful to them,
that our loving service may give them courage and confidence in their lives.

We gather our sisters and all the people in the world
whose lives are interwoven with ours and we take
this symbol of hope into the future.

Blessings be on us
Blessings flow from us
Blessings for future days.
Trusting God’s mercy
Trusting our calling
Knowing God’s faithfulness.
Courage to dream dreams
Courage to live dreams
Courage to dream once more.

In this place of reflection,
we ask for the gift of God’s wisdom,
and for hearts open to new learnings.
Let us pray together:
Loving God,
With you is wisdom,
she who knows your works.
She was present when you made the world;
and she understands what is pleasing in your eyes.
Send her upon us to help us, to toil with us,
and to teach us what is pleasing to you.
Since she knows and understands everything
she will guide us prudently in our undertakings
and be our protection and our strength.
We take this symbol of learning
into the future, asking for wisdom
and discernment in all that lies ahead.

Companion of those who journey
be the star that leads us.
Shine truth onto our paths
and give us a clear sense of direction.
Be our source of courage and our fountain of faith.
Take away all that binds and restricts us on the path of true freedom.

We take this symbol of freedom
as we cross the threshold, and take up our new responsibilities.

Wisdom go with us
Wisdom surround us
Wisdom guide all we do.
Lead us, O Jesus,
Be our companion
Lead us, we pray, this day.
Peace with our God, and
Peace in our hearts that
Deep peace may flow from us.

In this place of work and sharing
we reflect on our life as community.
This symbol of prayer expresses our desire
that prayer and reflection be central to all that we do.

“In the love which binds in unity
the three persons of the Blessed Trinity …
we find the model of our apostolic community …
and of our union of minds and hearts
in the body of the Society.” (Const 5)

As each one is ready, she places her flower in the bowl, to symbolise her commitment to building unity and harmony in this group and in the whole of our Society.

We take this symbol of harmony
and pray for this gift for all of us.
Luke 4:16-21
He came to Nazara, where he had been brought up, and went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day as he usually did. He stood up to read, and they handed him the scroll of the prophet Isaiah. Unrolling the scroll he found the place where it is written:
“The spirit of the Lord has been given to me,
for he has anointed me.
He has sent me to bring the good news to the poor,
to proclaim liberty to captives
and to the blind new sight,
to set the downtrodden free,
to proclaim the Lord’s year of favour.”
He then rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the assistant and sat down. And all eyes in the synagogue were fixed on him.

Have confidence,
When the time is ripe.
The vision will come.
When the heart is ready,
The fruit will appear.
Do not worry about all the unspoken,
The unnamed, the undelivered.
Do not hurry the sprouts out of seeds,
The weeds out of the garden
Let it all grow.
Wait for the ripening
Be patient
Smile while you wait.
Talk to the restlessness,
Sit with confusion
Dance with the paradoxes,
And sip tea with one another.
