Provincial Chapter of the Asia-Australia Province
of the Sisters Faithful Companions of Jesus

The Provincial Chapter of the Asia-Australia Province of the Sisters Faithful Companions of Jesus was held in Melbourne, Australia, 27th December, 2007 – 3rd January, 2008.

Sisters from Australia, Indonesia and the Philippines reflected on the theme “Our World Thirsts, Go, I am Sending You.”  The FCJ Companions in Mission also took part in some of the Provincial Chapter sessions and their presence was much appreciated.  The FCJs hope to extend the Companions in Mission programme, and to invite young people to be part of this initiative.

The FCJs reviewed their life and mission, and set directions for the next five years. 

• 2008 is the 150th Anniversary of the death of their Foundress, Marie Madeleine, and so they renewed their commitment to deepening their understanding of the charism, to living it today with integrity and relevance, and to sharing their spirituality as widely as possible.
• Conscious of a thirsty world calling to them, they committed themselves to caring for the earth in practical ways, to addressing injustice, especially injustice to women, and to keeping disadvantaged and marginalized people at the heart of their concern.
• The FCJs are aware that they live in a multi-faith world and they long to see harmony between people of all faiths.  They will work for this in a variety of ways.

The Provincial Chapter was a rich experience of sharing of cultures and ideas, and everyone enjoyed the experience.
