Moira Cashmore fcJ Hospitality |
||||
| My name is Moira Cashmore and I have been a member of the FCJ Society for the last seventeen years.
After nearly forty years teaching Primary school children I am now missioned to Local Leadership. |
|||||
| At present I am local leader in the Stella Maris community, Broadstairs, where my ministry is mainly hospitality because many people pass through the generalate or stay in the houses on our property during the year. I am also the non-resident local leader of our other Broadstairs community, Redriff, which is where our elderly sisters are cared for.
I spend part of my time travelling to London where I am a Foundation Governer at one of our schools - Maria Fidelis Convent School. |

| Other apostolic works in which I am involved include accompanying people in weeks of Guided Prayer, Spiritual Direction, helping in parishes with RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)and CLC (Christian Life Community) groups, editing a monthly newsletter for the Network of the British, Continental and Irish provinces and helping to organise the Renewal course at the Franciscan International Study Centre in Canterbury. This course is mainly accessed by Religious who are having some sabbatical time.
During the last eighteen months I have had the privilege of leading one of the first groups of our Companions in Mission, which is an associate programme started as a result of a directive from the last General Chapter. This programme is for those Christian people who are attracted to living the spirituality of Companionship with Jesus in their own life-style and wish to be associated with the FCJs. There are nine local people in the group and we meet for a couple of hours every two weeks, during which we explore together the FCJ way of life and the foundation and history of our Society. On completing the training programme the companions will be asked to consider making a formal commitment to live as a Companion in Mission for two years, after which they can renew again for another two years and so on. This is a new way of belonging to our Society and it is very exciting both for them and for us. I enjoy all my ministries and I am glad I'm called to be an FCJ. |
