Sister Bernadette and a group of women in the parish, knit clothes which they then send to various places including Romania. Below is a Thank You card that some of the recipients of these clothes sent to Sister Bernadette along with their photos:

Dear Sister Bernadette,

Through this card we send you health and fulfilment in life. May the good Lord reward you for the care that you have for children. We, the children of the island of Braila received the clothes you sent and we thank you, you know we were happy. We, the children of Magureni (village on the island) thank you with nothing material but our hearts are charged with gratitude towards God who we worship in our daily prayers with our class teacher. We know how to value work and to be good and obedient. We love you, we the children of Magureni and I write in their name.
