God–Filled Ordinariness

A poem by Sr Liz fcJ to mark the Season of Creation.

God–Filled Ordinariness

After a nap
go outside to do what needs to be done
in the garden.
Cut the peonies down
transplant an astilbe
prune the roses
clean up the monkshood bed.
Tasks finished
put things away
walking – not fast, not slow
but at my pace – steady.

Something,
there’s something here,
gentle, not overwhelming,
a soft brightness – yes
and no.  Nothing is different
and yet it is.
God is here.

Ordinariness.
God-filled ordinariness.
Harmony.
One-with.
