On the evening of January 19, 2026, members of various Christian traditions gathered at the FCJ Christian Life Centre Chapel for a dedicated prayer service marking the annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. The service began at 5:30 pm with hopeful hearts aimed at fostering reconciliation and visible unity within the Church.
The 2026 observance centers on the Bible verse from Ephesians 4:4:
There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling.
Ephesians 4:4
The participants came together for shared prayer with selected scripture readings focused on healing historical divisions and restoring the unity desired by Jesus Christ. Attendees were reminded that unity is a gift from God to be received with humility and patience.
The gathering at the FCJ Chapel emphasized « spiritual ecumenism, » which the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops identifies as the heart of the ecumenical movement.
Following the service, the FCJ Centre provided a space for participants from different denominations to share refreshments and dialogue, embodying oneness through encouraging community connections.
