Some capitulars at the FCJ General Chapter describe various styles of work and conversation they have employed to discern together.
Throughout the General Chapter we have used a variety of different methods of working, in order to have time to listen to each other, and consider the input from the various presentations and groups, as well as the reflections gathered from our sisters across the FCJ Society.

Each day we were in two different groups: a group for the day’s opening prayer and faith sharing and a work group. These groups were configured in order to give an opportunity to speak with sisters from across the Society. At times when the work required knowledge of the local situation, we worked with sisters from the same geographical Area.
An important part of the work is the interior work of listening to the Spirit, and there were many times during the day when we gave time for silence or reflection before continuing our deliberations.

It was great to also have opportunities for plenary sessions, where we could hear opinions and thoughts from across the group and engage in debate on a range of issues.
We are deeply grateful to our support staff: Nikki Aerts, Sue Cawley and Sr Maria Katherine fcJ. Their dedication, efficiency and cheerful generosity greatly aided us in our work. Not only did they provide the secretarial and technical ‘back-up’ that is so necessary at a Chapter, but they enabled us to focus on the work at hand. They maintained an accurate record of the day’s events.

The capitulars themselves formed several ‚Committees’and Working Groups. Again, this ensured that each person was able to work to their strengths. The Committees and Groups included the Steering Committee, the Writing Group, the Environment Committee, the Communications Committee, the Social Committee and the Liturgy Committee.
Over mealtimes and at the end of the day there were many opportunities for informal conversation and socialising together.
