Schools Welcome Donations of Books and Educational Toys

From Sr Agnes fcJ, on behalf of the FCJ communities in Yogyakarta

Benefactor’s generosity has enabled the FCJ Charity Project in Yogyakarta, Indonesia to once again provide books and educational toys to schools. Two kindergartens, namely Canisius Kadirojo and Canisius Pulutan, and three Primary Schools, namely Canisius Sorowajan, Canisius Condong Catur and Canisius Pulutan, received the donations with great joy because the books in their libraries had not been updated for a long time. The donation provided various types of books, including children’s storybooks, folk tales, encyclopaedias, atlases, and dictionaries. Some libraries do not even have educational toys, so these donations are something new for them. The students representing the schools that received these donations looked eager to start reading and playing.

We hope that these new books will encourage children to read more, to improve their cognitive abilities, to enrich their vocabularies and communication skills, and to develop their imagination and creativity. Equally important is the development of empathy and emotional intelligence. The educational toys will also improve children’s intelligence, provide a fun learning experience, develop their senses and motor skills, and encourage them to physically play with their friends.
