The words above are taken from a recent speech of Pope Leo – and they are certainly relevant in today’s context.
When war rages in several parts of the world we could be paralysed by despair or fear, but Leo reminds us there is much we can still do. We can counteract hate with love, we can spread as much kindness as we can, and, in our own small way, counteract violence.
Can we try to do more to reach out to others? Can we pray and fast and hope for peace? Let us try, together, to overcome violence with love and kindness.
