A reflection by Sr Lynne fcJ from FCJ Centre St Hugh’s, in Liverpool, first appeared in the FCJ Sisters Blog on 5th December 2025.
This morning I had the pleasure of attending the Feast Day Mass at one of our FCJ Secondary Schools here in Liverpool: Bellerive FCJ. The school Feast Day is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, and the tradition is that the school celebrates on the nearest Friday to the Feast. So today was the day!
It was a beautiful celebration with great participation from the students (there were approximately 500 students in the Mass I attended). The readings, singing, and participation were great – a lovely reverence and a feeling of joy and celebration. It was great to hear the girls really singing with enthusiasm.
Mass was celebrated by Bishop Tom, a long time friend of the school and previous school chaplain. He spoke about how Mary, a teenager, had said her Yes, becoming more and more the person she was called to be… just as the students also are called by God to grow into their best selves, listening deeply to the call of God in their lives.
I came away feeling uplifted and joyful – a number of staff and pupils asked the FCJ community to pray for particular intentions – its great to feel the connection between the FCJ Sisters and the School community.
On returning home I saw a message from our sisters in Australia. They had also been at a School Mass in Genazzano FCJ… they were celebrating the same connection! What a wonderful FCJ Family. Praise GOD!
