The FCJ Refugee Centre in Toronto serves refugees and others at risk due to their immigration status. It welcomes anyone asking for advice, counsel and support regarding their refugee or immigration claim process. The Centre addresses systemic issues that newly arrived refugee claimants face in Canada including lack of resources, marginalization, and discrimination, and the FCJ Refugee Centre’s Anti-Human Trafficking Program has been at the forefront of the work done on human trafficking in Toronto and surrounding areas.
The Centre has recently shared on their social media the good news that, through the Catalyst Grant, they have received supplemental funding from The Law Foundation of Ontario for the period of June 1, 2026, to December 31, 2027. They say:
This support will help us expand our team and strengthen our case management and protection services to better respond to the growing needs of survivors of gender-based violence (GBV). The funding will enhance our ability to provide trauma-informed legal support, including application assistance, legal advice, and ongoing representation for high-risk clients.
