Caring is Sharing at the Home for the Aged

In the first week of March, Sr Narni, fcJ, led the students and pastoral care team of the Campion Institute held outreach activities at Catholic Home for the Aged, Kandawgalay in Yangon. The home is run by the Sisters of Reparation in the building erected in 1923. There are about 140 elderly people who have no families staying there. They are from different parts of Myanmar and of many religions (Hindu, Buddhist and Christian).

The Campion Institute group did service activities such as helping with cleaning, listening to their stories, cutting their nails, serving their meal, praying together and sharing in their own local language. They also offered some entertainment by singing, performing Katchin traditional dance (from Myitkyna). They were able to make a donation to the home.

It was really a great day for all involved, enjoying companionship and sharing love. Activities happily ended by taking a group photo and sharing snacks and drinks.
