Sr Christine received Freedom of Borough award

Sr Christine Frost, fcJ has been awarded the borough of Tower Hamlets highest honour, the Freedom of the Borough. She has been recognized as an inspirational leader for her years of service to Tower Hamlets through Neighbours in Poplar

Sr Gloria, fcJ was delighted to join Christine and five other Neighbours in Poplar volunteers for this wonderful event in the Tower of London. Part of the nomination for Christine printed in the booklet read:

Throughout [the last 50 years, Sr Christine] has continued to defend and support community cohesion and worked with elected representatives, volunteers, NGOs, charities, local businesses and multinationals to ensure the needs of the lonely, the vulnerable and the isolated were met. Her ability to lead and inspire others is legendary across the borough and beyond.

From the Tower Hamlets website:

At a meeting of the Council on Wednesday 13 October, councillors voted unanimously to award the Freedom of the Borough to Sufia Alam, Jim Fitzpatrick, Sister Christine Frost fcJ, Sir George Iacobescu CBE and Abdul Aziz Sardar. As part of the meeting a number of councillors as well as members of the wider community gave their own tributes, explaining why those being nominated deserved the special honour for their years of service to the people of the borough. This event marks just the second time in twenty years that the Freedom of the Borough has been awarded.
