Greetings from Spanish Point where we’ve had a month of mixed weather. Our first 8 day directed retreat featured warnings of over saturated land after all the rain, and our second spoke of sunscreen, hydration and heatwaves! Each week has been as unique as the personal retreats our guests engaged with.
It has been a really lovely month, with gentleness and ease at the heart of it all. We are blessed with our spiritual directors and with wonderful staff who ensure everyone feels welcome, safe, warm and well fed. That allows us all to deeply enter into the retreat. So thank you to Daisy, Suzy, Jo, Cathy, Brenda, Anne, Des, Joe and Mary. We are grateful.
As we rest into the graces of the directed retreats, we also prepare for Autumn of course. There will be two more opportunities for directed retreats in September (with 4, 6, and 8 day options) and then we start into a really great program of events for the winter. We listed some in the last newsletter and have been working hard to have them on the website for July. For now we can share retreats up to Christmas – more will follow in August! Please be patient, but also please be curious. I think its fair to say that there will be something for everyone!!
One of the graces of the past year has been the growth of small faith and discussion groups here in the house. We love to offer space for reflection and for being together as a community. This will continue into the year ahead too, with groups and events planned that will challenge, comfort and inspire hopefully.
Therefore, it seems like a good time to rermind you all – locally and further away – that we welcome your supprt in any way you can offer it. Volunteers – locals and those visiting – as well as other supports are all possible, if thats suitable for you. Please see below for ideas and opportunities.

The FCJ Spirituality House, Teach Spiorodálta, is a home and spiritual haven of the FCJ Sisters, who have come to Spanish Point for generations for spiritual nourishment and refreshment. Now we would like to share our home with the wider community through spiritual moments, enjoyment of the natural beauty of creation, and the lifting of spirits with music, art and poetry.
