Care for our common home

Sr Narni fcJ, from the Yangon (Myanmar) FCJ Community, led ecological activities with a group of young people at Peoples’ Square and Park in Yangon on a Saturday in January. The participants were students and alumni of Campion Institute, a school of English run by the Jesuits in Yangon. They had discussions about plastic pollution and undertook some practical ecological activities. Participants were asked to use their five senses – to see, to hear, to smell, to taste and to feel – when they are getting in touch with the environment. They did some short reflections and took time to enjoy the beauty of nature and to learn from what they did. There were also interactive games to build communication among them.

At the end of the session participants were invited to make a simple commitment in their daily life as part of an ecological conversion such as to reduce and reuse plastics. It was such fun and a precious day to have the privilege of accompanying them, especially in raising their awareness of taking care of our environment.
