FCJ Summer Program in Myanmar: Ecological Awareness

We are not only the beneficiaries but also the stewards of creation, so it is important for us to do everything we can to care for and protect the natural world. Our community in Myanmar kept this in mind as they prepared their summer program. Narni (Maria Sunarni fcJ) writes: “We are thanking God and thanking everyone who supported our summer program, which we offered in Epiphany and Dawbone Parishes. One of our programs was Ecological Awareness and we targeted children and young people. In simple ways, participants learned how to take good care of the Earth, our home. It is our responsibility to keep our environment clean, so topics included water pollution, and dealing with rubbish and plastic waste. We did our best to develop awareness of the Three Rs: Reduce, Re-use and Re-cycle. We also enjoyed team activities and together cleaned the church compound and part of the road. After two days of action, we reflected, shared, danced and sang together. Let us continue to take care of the Earth, our Common Home!”
