Bicentenary Begins in Edmonton

On September 21st, birthday of our foundress Marie Madeleine d’Houët, the sisters of the Edmonton community welcomed 25 people into their house for the opening day of the FCJ Bicentenary 1820-2020. The group included FCJ Sisters, Companions in Mission and friends of our community.

We began the occasion with the beautiful prayer in our chapel prepared by Sr Ita, fcJ, led by Julian, Companion in Mission. Maureen Rooney Punyi, a local actress, read the parts of the prayer that were Marie Madeleine’s words in character, helping us move more deeply into the experiences of our Foundress. Sr Susan (photo) spoke to those present on behalf of the community. After the prayer, we shared a simple but delicious meal of sandwiches, fruit and cheese, ending with cake in honour of the Marie Madeleine’s birthday.
