Greetings from Spanish Point where the sweet sunny days of September are moving into the calm, rainy days of October.
September was a lovely and busy month as our Ignatian directed retreats resumed. It was a pleasure to welcome Ignatian directors Joe Hayes, Deirdre Ni Chinneide and Siobhan Horton for 4, 8 and 6 day retreats.
We held the very successful Burren Outdoor retreats with Mary Lillis in Corofin and the huge numbers, many returning, reminded us of her gift to us – of joy, wisdom and creativity. So we sadly agreed to ‘allow’ Mary to retire from leading the retreats but committed to staying in touch! We remain so deeply grateful for her ministry.
We held our first volunteer evening on September 30th and while small it was very helpful. Many of our evening activites start now in October, and this weekend we host our first weekend retreat of the Autumn – as Eoin Garrett leads us in reflection with John F Deane and other Irish poets and the great question = Who do you say that I am.
We have plenty of new posters and brochures – in digital and paper form – that we’re happy to share, with those who can share them wider. If you’d like brochures for your community, friends or churches – please do email us.

Autumn is about to show us how beautiful it is to let go.
The FCJ Spirituality House, Teach Spiorodálta, is a home and spiritual haven of the FCJ Sisters, who have come to Spanish Point for generations for spiritual nourishment and refreshment. Now we would like to share our home with the wider community through spiritual moments, enjoyment of the natural beauty of creation, and the lifting of spirits with music, art and poetry.
