Area of Europe Post-Chapter Assembly

Sisters in the Area of Europe gathered in Paris for the post-Chapter Assembly. Sisters Geraldine and Maria fcJ from the Limerick community write about the experience.

It was a great joy for us to meet up in person with the other Sisters from our Area in Paris for this Assembly. Our Chapter delegates Lynne, MaryAnne and Anouska fcJ did us proud in the preparation and facilitation of this meeting. It was both inspiring and energising. Alicia fcJ ensured that the technology ran smoothly and Bernie fcJ saw to the practicalities relating to our stay. All our needs were met and our gathering was memorable in every way.

We were delighted to be able to offer our support to Patricia fcJ, our new General Superior in person and her presence was greatly appreciated. We found the Chapter document ‘Give me a drink… John 4’ very inspiring and challenging, giving us a focus for our prayer and mission over the next six years.

Marie Madeleine’s shrine in the church of St Dominic

On the feast of 8th December we were delighted to have the opportunity to visit the Lieu de Mémoires at Rue de la Santé, the house where our foundress Marie Madeleine d’Houët lived and died, preceded by a prayer service at her shrine in the church of St Dominic.

The Lieu de Mémoires surpassed all our expectations and we are deeply grateful to Claire fcJ and all who assisted her in the preparation of this wonderful tribute to Marie Madeleine and the unfolding story of the Society over the years.

We returned from Paris with hearts full of gratitude for all we had received and for the creativity and generosity of all involved to ensure the success of the gathering.
